SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for preparing purine nucleosides, such as inosine and xanthosine, and also to a method for preparing purine nucleotides, such as inosine 5'-phosphate, xanthosine 5'-phosphate and guanosine 5'-phosphate. Strains of microorganisms belonging both to genus Escherichia and to genus Bacillus are used as producers wherein production of purine nucleosides by indicated microorganisms can be increased due to elevating activity of protein encoding by gene rhtA (ybiF).
