FIELD: pharmaceutical chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: gluconic acid, precursor of worthy preparations, such as sodium, calcium, and iron gluconates as well as glucono-delta-lactone, is obtained by electrolysis of 20% aqueous D-glucose solution in diaphragm-free electrolyzer at 40-50оС, in presence of sodium or potassium bromide catalyst (up to 1% on the weight of glucose), pH of solution 7-8, and optimal current density 0.05 A/cm2. Oxidation of D-glucose proceeds on both graphite electrodes and in solution bulk at oxygen pressure 0.1-0.5 MPa and cathode current density 0.01 A/cm2.
EFFECT: reduced power consumption and amount of harmful emissions at higher yield of desired product.
