FIELD: purification of sewage from phenol by electrochemical oxidation. SUBSTANCE: oxidation of phenol is carried out in diaphragm-free electrolyzer at oxygen pressure and cathodic current density of 10 mA/sq.cm. Anodic material includes graphite and platinum. Cathodic material is lead. During electrolysis of phenol-containing sewage, phenol is oxidized on anode with dissolved oxygen in electrolyte, and with hydrogen peroxide which results from reducing oxygen, on cathode.
