FIELD: measuring engineering.
SUBSTANCE: coordinate-measurement device determines coordinates of points of the profile of an article in the device coordinate system. The center of the middle circumference is determined approximately, and harmonic analysis is performed with respect to the chosen center. The analysis performed is the base for rectifying the coordinates of the center and radius of the middle circumference of the profile. The approximate center of the middle circumference is assumed to be the center of the rectangle which embraces the profile of the article or the point which divides each of the mutually perpendicular segments bounded with the opposite points of the profile.
EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of measuring.
