FIELD: investigating and analyzing of materials.
SUBSTANCE: method includes sampling lubricating oil to be investigated, separating the sample into two samples, heating the samples, and mixing the samples without air access during at least three hours. For each subsequent sample the temperature is heightened by a constant value and, then, light absorption coefficient, viscosity, coefficient of energy condition are determined, the samples are centrifuged and the characteristics are determined again. The thermal stability is determined from these values before and after centrifuging the samples.
EFFECT: enhanced reliability.
