FIELD: rolled stock production, namely exploitation of rolls of rolling mills.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of magnetic flaw detection due to measuring coercive force on roll surface before using it; exploitation of roll; rejection of it. Method is realized due to periodically carrying out magnetic flaw detection of roll at measuring distribution of coercive force along surface of roll. When mean value of coercive force exceeds doubled value of mean coercive force before exploitation of roll, the last is rejected. When roll has layer of its barrel still suitable for operation, roll is subjected to low tempering.
EFFECT: possibility for determining accurate and unambiguous value of using degree of roll resource.
