FIELD: quantum physics; laser engineering for producing high-density laser radiation pulses.

SUBSTANCE: shock waves are produced by synchronous initiation of explosive material paired charges in the form of rods mounted in working chamber of laser in symmetrical mirror manner relative to its optical axis; rods are mounted in working chamber in inclined position relative to optical axis of laser and synchronously ignited at two most distant regions from their optical axis, their angle of inclination to optical axis of laser α being chosen from following expression: α = arcSin V1/V2, where V1 is rate of shock wave propagation in working chamber of laser; V2 is rate of burning of explosive material of rods. Photodissociation laser has working chamber with output windows that accommodates paired charges of explosive material mounted therein opposite each other and provided with their ignition devices. Working chamber is conical in shape, explosive material charges in the form of rods are mounted over generating line of working chamber, and rod ignition devices are disposed on base end of mentioned working chamber.

EFFECT: simplified design and reduced cost of ignition system; enhanced optical characteristics of laser radiation.
