FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices for winding thread-like material on round drum, namely, to devices for compact automatic winding of electric cable of different size onto drums on any type-size. Proposed device for winding cable on drum consists on drum, drum mounting mechanism and crossmember to direct and tension the cable an it is provided additionally with controller, length meter, crossmember position coordinate pickup and device for measuring size of cable. Proposed device can be used with drums of any size for winding cable of any size, as signals from cable size measuring device, from crossmember position coordinates pickup and from length meter are delivered to controller which processes the data to set speed of rum rotation and movement of crossmember which lays the cable with due account of preset density and type of winding. Moreover, drum mounting mechanism contains horizontal beam whose axle passes through vertical post secured on support on which geared motor of horizontal beam angular displacement drive with horizontal beam angular displacement pickup is secured and also drum rotation electric drive. Drive chain with two sprockets is placed inside horizontal beam, drive sprocket being connected with drum rotation electric drive, and driven one, with spindle to fit drum. Thanks to it drum of any type-size can be lifted in initial position and lowered into preset position and can be mounted and removed from winding device without additional equipment.
