FIELD: inorganic compounds technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention provides granulated aluminum fluoride production process starting from powder aluminum fluoride, which process comprises mixing aluminum fluoride powder with a liquid fluorine-containing component followed by granulation of resulting mix and heat treatment of thus obtained granules. More specifically, aluminum fluoride powder is subjected to mechanical activation in shear activator for 2 to 10 min, after which activated powder is divided into two streams. Larger one is mixed, in turboblade granulator, with hydrofluoric acid or mixture thereof with aluminum fluoride to achieve moisture level 19-29% and then the rest of aluminum fluoride powder is added to reduce moisture to 10-17%. Mix is then granulated while rotor revolution speed and granulation time are controlled so as to achieve desired size of granules.
EFFECT: stabilized size composition of product, enabled variation of granule size, and increased strength of granules.
