TUYERE FOR BOTTOM BLOWING OF METAL WITH GASES IN LADLE AND METHOD OF ITS MANUFACTURE Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: metallurgy; treatment of steel in ladle outside furnace by blowing it with gases.

SUBSTANCE: proposed tuyere for bottom blowing of metal with gases includes metal sleeve with bottom which is filled with refractory mass and has slotted passages and wear indicator located in lower portion and embedded in refractory mass. Wear indicator is made in form of truncated cone with circular bores over its outer surface; said bores are filled with refractory mass. Method of manufacture of blowing tuyere includes manufacture of taper sleeve with bottom and gas supply pipe and mounting of passage-forming strips in this sleeve for forming longitudinal through slotted passages and wear indicator, securing of lower ends of passage-forming passages by means of consumable template and securing of upper ends by means of retainer fitted on upper portion of tuyere sleeve, layer-by-layer placing and vibration compacting of refractory concrete mass followed by heat treatment. Consumable template is secured to bottom by means of threaded studs welded to sleeve bottom and wear indicator is secured by means of clamp made from thin-sheet metal and threaded studs for securing the template.
