FIELD: production of master alloys; metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes preparation of liquid bath in furnace and additive of titanium-containing charge, melting metal in crucible and tapping molten metal. Liquid bath is prepared from Armco iron at continuous delivery of inert gas to bath surface; specific gravity of inert gas is higher than specific gravity of air; gas is delivered at rate of 1-2 l/min per square decimeter of bath; gas is added periodically after melting of previous batch; titanium charge is delivered in pieces, 2-5% of mass of molten-on metal. At the moment of loading titanium charge and in the course of its melting, inert gas is delivered to bath; specific gravity of inert gas is higher than specific gravity of air; inert gas is delivered at rate of 2.5-3.5 l/min per square decimeter of bath melt surface; argon is used as inert gas.
EFFECT: reduced gas saturation and reduced losses of titanium.
