FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to two-stroke and four-stroke piston engines. Proposed internal combustion engine has cylinder with upper intake and exhaust ports overlapped by spool. According to first design version, intake and exhaust ports are made over piston at its bottom dead center position which are overlapped by piston, and air from supercharger is supplied to upper and lower intake ports. According to second design version, spool is installed in cylindrical barrel, and space is formed inside cylindrical wall of barrel to which cooling liquid is delivered. According to third design version, air from self-contained supercharger is supplied to upper intake and lower scavenging ports. Scavenging ports are arranged over piston when it is in bottom dead center, and upper ports are positively closed after closing of lower intake and exhaust ports by piston. According to fourth design version, engine is furnished additionally with two-stroke cylinder, and operating phases of two four-stroke cylinders are displaced through 360o. Bypass valves connect two-stroke cylinder with fourstroke cylinders when pistons approach top dead central alternately, through 360o of shaft rotation.
EFFECT: improved economy and reliability of engine, reduced specific mass.
