FIELD: electronic engineering; reconditioning oxide-cathode devices, primarily large-size high- and medium-power microwave devices.
SUBSTANCE: reconditioning process includes device opening, replacement of faulty units and parts including cathode unit, and heat treatment involving additional pumping. Spongy coating filled with carbonate of alkali-earth metals whose reserve is over 30 mg/cm2 is used as emitter of cathode unit being replaced. Spongy coating is compressed to minimum 50% of source sponge thickness. Used as additional pumping means is built-in magnetic-discharge pump affording absorption of gases emitted from hardware and enclosure during additional pumping. In the course of additional pumping current is picked off cathode at temperature of enclosure complying with its temperature under desired operating conditions for time depending on degree of vacuum improvement attained in device.
EFFECT: enhanced mechanical endurance not worse than that specified for particular device.
