FIELD: nuclear reactor building engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed actuating mechanism that can be used in pressurized-tube reactors with cable or band coupling between actuator and reactor control and protection system rod has actuator incorporating electric motor, power reduction gear, band-carrying drum, additional braking device, electromagnetic clutch, and hydraulic braking device. The latter is made as separate device in the form of hydraulic buffer disposed in bottom part of control and protection system channel for functioning only upon rod entrance in reactor core; electromagnetic clutch is disposed between power reduction gear and band-carrying drum.
EFFECT: enhanced reliability of reactor protection in emergency situations in braking control rod.
