METHOD FOR EXTRACTING CATARACT AND IMPLANTING INTRAOCULAR LENS WITH INITIAL DIRECT ASTIGMATISM CORRECTION Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: method involves forming corneal flap without lifting it, carrying out cataract extraction with some time delay and intraocular lens implantation. The corneal flap is lifted not earlier as one month later, exposing stromal bed with ultraviolet radiation and bringing the corneal flap to its initial place. Flap pedicle is arranged along the weak meridian, cataract extraction is carried out via tunnel incision in the cornea and lens implantation are carried out not earlier than in 1-7 days. The incision is arranged in weak meridian projection 1mm far from the limbus in parallel to it at 3 or 9 o'clock position. To produce complex myopic astigmatism, optical force of the intraocular lens is calculated with cornea refraction being determined. The so built complex myopic astigmatism is corrected by means of negative cylindrical ablation of stromal bed.

EFFECT: high vision acuity without applying spectacle-based correction; accelerated treatment course.
