SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in internal combustion engines. A two-stroke piston internal combustion engine contains block of cylinders (16), equipped with purge and outlet windows (12) and (11), pistons (8), (7) moving in cylinders (16) in opposite directions. Each piston (8), (7) controls purge and outlet, respectively. There is a mechanism for the conversion of reciprocating movement of pistons (8), (7) into rotational movement of crankshaft (1). Outlet piston (7) has toroidal prechamber (17) in a head, which periodically communicates with a supra-piston space by means of a bypass channel made in a wall of cylinder (16). A fuel supply system allows fractional fuel injection into prechamber (17) and into the main combustion chamber formed by bottoms of pistons (8), (7) and walls of cylinder (16). A method for the operation of a two-stroke piston internal combustion engine is disclosed.
EFFECT: increase in the intensity of combustion process.
