METHOD OF MEASURING DISSOLVING POWER Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

Abstract RU 2246105 C2

FIELD: methods of liquid solvent cleaning.

SUBSTANCE: method concludes in measuring dissolving power of volatile liquid relatively to low-volatile liquid and based upon measuring speed of removal of low-volatile liquid from transparent glass capillary due to dissolution. Capillary having one of edges soldered is filled with liquid to be dissolved and placed vertically inside closed vessel filled with solvent. The capillary, after being kept in solvent during specific time, is removed from the vessel and subject to drying to evaporate solvent. Dissolving power is estimated from value of interdiffusion factor D (sq.cm/sec) using relation of

where l is length of liquid column in capillary at primary filling, cm; x is length of liquid column left in capillary after the capillary was kept in solvent and subsequently dried out,cm; tx is period of time within which the capillary stayed in vessel filled with solvent, sec; K is dimensionless factor which value can be calculated at the condition of 0,25l≤x≤0,75l from ratio of k=0,9-0,27x/l.

EFFECT: improved precision of measurement; simplification of method of measurement.
