FIELD: processes and equipment for continuous casting of metals.
SUBSTANCE: according to invention meniscus of melt metal in mold is subjected to common action of axial variable electromagnetic field trying to impart to meniscus doom shape and cross stationary magnetic field designed for stabilizing shape of meniscus. Method is realized with use magnetic field generated by alternating current pulsating at frequency lower than 500 Hz. Plant for performing the method includes mold having assembled cooled plates, winding embracing mold at level of melt metal meniscus for creating variable magnetic field directed along casting axis and inductor of stationary magnetic field crossing large plates of mold at level of meniscus normally relative to casting axis.
EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of plant, improved quality of products, namely cast steel products.
