FIELD: organic synthesis.
SUBSTANCE: invention provides 1-methylcarbapenam derivatives having general formula I:

in which R1 represents group COOR3, CONR4R5, cyano, CH2OH, or CH2NR7N8, where R3, R4, R5, R7, and R8 are defined in claims; n = 1, 2, or 3; and X represents sulfur or oxygen atom, pharmacologically acceptable ester and salts thereof, and pharmaceutical compositions showing antibacterial activity and containing indicated compounds as active ingredients. Method of prevention and treatment of bacterial infections using claimed compositions is also provided.
EFFECT: increased assortment of antibacterial drugs.
