FIELD: railway transport.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used on electric locomotives and electric trains with induction traction drive. Proposed electric drive contains ac/dc change-over switch, traction transformer, current receiver and four-quadrant converter connected by contractors with LC-filter. Two contactors are introduced into traction electric drive, one of which is placed between extreme terminals of reactor of LC-filter and ac terminal of four-quadrant converter, and the other, between said terminal of reactor of LC-filter and plus terminal of current of four-quadrant converter.

EFFECT: prevention of dependence of power developed by drive from actual voltage of supply system.
