FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in automatic machines for precise positioning and smooth control of variable speed with stops of movable objects and in drives where temporary stopping of driven rotating shaft with drive engine operating is required. According to proposed method continuous rotation of drive shaft is mechanically converted into interrupted rotation of driven shaft without interruption of kinematic coupling of mechanical converter by displacing its links in plane-parallel motion and change of its structure of parallelogram mechanism into non-parallelogram two-crank mechanism by changing length of post by shifting the latter along movable connecting rod with driven crank of converter by structure changer. Invention enlarges kinematic capabilities of method and mechanism, improved operation reliability, provides precise stopping of working member with subsequent adjustable variable speed of motion in one of three position operating conditions, automatic elimination of dead positions in parallelogram mechanism and exclusion of its uncertainty.
EFFECT: possibility of complete continuous stopping of driven shaft with engine operating without use of friction clutch or any brakes.
