TIE-TAMPING MACHINE AND METHOD OF TIE TAMPING Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

FIELD: railway transport; permanent way maintenance and repair.

SUBSTANCE: proposed tie-tamping machine 2 has frame moving on running gears and tie-tamping tools 13 spaced the machine. Each tie-tamping tool 13 is provided with four pairs of strikers 14-17 installed for simultaneous tamping of four ties 2 following each other. Four pairs of strikers 14 - 17 of tie-tamping tool 13 are installed lengthwise the machine in turn at smaller distance "x" from middle of machine 21 for tamping under-tie bases 23 from inner side of rails and at greater distance "y" from middle of machine 21 for tamping under-tie bases 25 from outer side of rails. Method of simultaneous tamping of four ties 2 by driving strikers 19 into track ballast and pairs of strikers 14-17 made for cross feeding by means of cross feed drive comes to the following: four pairs of strikers 14-17 are centered for each rail 3, viewing in longitudinal direction of machine in turn over under-tie 23, 25 found from inner side of rail or from outer side of rail, with displacement relative to each other through one ballast box. When looking in working direction 12, each rear striker 10 located pair of strikers 14-17 and each front striker 19 located after pair of strikers 14-17 is designed for driving into one and the same ballast box. At first stage of tie tamping, strikers 19 of each pair of strikers 14 - 17 execute cross feed movement in first direction 27 towards each other to tamp tie 2 in between. At second stage of tie tamping strikers 19 are moved from each other in second direction of tamping opposite to first direction 27. Invention prevents tight arrangement of strikers in row.

EFFECT: improved quality of tie tamping.
