FIELD: electrical engineering; control systems for separately excited traction motors of vehicle drives.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method for controlling synchronous traction motor, device implementing this method, and unit for generating desired values of excitation current and current vector direct- and quadrature-axis components are characterized in use of new control variable of coupling coefficient equal to ratio of direct-axis component of stator flux linkage vector to product of current value of stator current vector quadrature-axis component by direct-axis component of stator complete inductance. Desired field current and stator current vector components are shaped in frequency-current control system of synchronous traction motor using mentioned new control variable.
EFFECT: optimized use of motor overall power and installed capacity of power converter key components.
