FIELD: protection of heat exchange equipment against deposits and cleaning it, possibly cleaning inner surfaces of water heating boilers from deposits.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of acting upon surface of steam and(or) water heating equipment by impulse magnetic field in order to create magnetostriction effect; simultaneously acting upon surfaces of ferromagnetic and non-ferromagnetic metal pipelines of equipment by means of impulse alternating magnetic field creating magnetostriction effect and created due to use of three-pole magnetic converter for successively shifting magnetic field. Apparatus for performing the method with use of impulse electromagnetic field creating magnetostriction effect includes magnetic converter arranged on surface of pipelines of ferromagnetic and non-ferromagnetic metals and providing magnetostriction effect due to action of impulse alternating magnetic field and successively shifting said field. Apparatus also includes pulse generator converting DC of power source by means of electronic switch and supplying pulse current to converter.

EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of magnetostriction effect at cleaning and preventing solid deposits in heat exchange equipment.
