METHOD FOR CREATING OF PERMANENT LICORICE PLANTATIONS AND MACHINE FOR PLANTING OF LICORICE ROOTSTOCK CUTTINGS INTO GROUND Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

Abstract RU 2251244 C1

FIELD: agriculture and agricultural engineering, in particular, creation of stable licorice plant associations and devices for planting of licorice rootstock cuttings.

SUBSTANCE: method involves preparing soil; planting licorice rootstock cuttings and compacting plantation surface. Planting is performed at continuous advancement of machine. Rootstock cuttings of 3-5 year-age licorice of local ecotype are commonly used for planting. Length of cuttings is 0.20-0.25 m. Planting norm is 2-3 cuttings per running meter. Furrows are mutually offset by distance of 0.7 m. Upon planting, plantation surface is compacted at pressure of 0.15-0.20 MPa. Soil is prepared by providing vertical slit. Side walls in lower part of slit are moved aside to form cavity above slit bottom portion. Cavity is made narrowing toward plantation surface. Cavity bottom is mellowed. After placing of cuttings onto cavity bottom, local soil zone is shifted down in vertical plane to provide for contacting of planting material of licorice rootstocks with soil. Soil preparing and planting of cuttings are provided by means of machine for planting cuttings of licorice rootstock, said machine having frame, automatic hitching bracket, carrier wheels, tines, shanks, and planting units. Tines have flat knives on their front part. Each knife has curved-concave cutting edge formed as parabola with center of its leg arranged below mid portion of tine. Planting units have left-handed and right-handed sides mounted on tine in opposite relation to one another. Rear cuts of sides arranged below tine mid portion are diverging toward chisel. Each shank is equipped with disk cutter mounted on roller hub. Roller rim has conical or cylindrical surface. Rim of roller formed as truncated cone is joined with its greater base to disk cutter surface. Shanks are mounted behind left-handed or right-handed side, asymmetrically to tine.

EFFECT: reduced labor and power consumption, increased capacity of plants for survival under non-irrigated agriculture conditions, on abandoned rice checks, meadows, and pastures.
