FIELD: railway engineering; computer-aided shaping of control pulses, their phase-restriction and distribution among arms of locomotive converter.

SUBSTANCE: novelty is use of microprocessor controller that has lock-on/comparison units and is characterized in fast response to interrupts (50-100 ns response to interrupt request) and enables use of digital filtering and failure protection algorithms in processing signals tracking potential conditions across converter thyristors. This microprocessor controller provides for software-hardware shaping of rectifying-inverting converter pulses and their distribution among converter arms considering job received from driver controller and potential conditions across thyristors (voltage across traction transformer secondary winding sections) using digital filtering and failure protection algorithms to eliminate vibrations and noticeable inrush currents of traction motors in case of voltage waveform distortions in contact system, and also during transfers from one control region to other, including in case of different voltage levels across traction transformer secondary winding sections.
