FIELD: metallurgy, namely transition modes of casting at metal continuous casting processes.
SUBSTANCE: metal continuous casting process comprises steps of feeding metal to mold from intermediate ladle through casting nozzle; changing of casting nozzle at casting process; drawing ingot out of mold at variable speed; cooling metal at its solidification in secondary cooling zone. Before changing casting nozzle, for time period consisting 0.04 - 0.15 of period of complete ingot crystallization drawing speed of ingot is increased by value Δν consisting 0.07 - 0.3 of working speed. Ingot is drawn at such speed till time moment of changing casting nozzle. After change of casting nozzle ingot drawing speed is increased till working speed. Further increase of ingot drawing speed after change of casting nozzle may be realized at higher rate of speed setting by value 30 -50 % in comparison with usual rate of drawing speed setting after change of casting nozzle.
EFFECT: increased number of good-quality slabs due to compensation of width of transition slab formed at changing casting nozzle.
