FIELD: nuclear power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: pelletized fuel is produced for fuel elements of nuclear reactor fuel assemblies from uranium dioxide. Pellets are gradually sintered in tunnel furnace by zones isolated with heat barriers at definite heating and cooling temperatures. In the process pellets of desired density, microstructure, volume fraction of open pores, and tendency of sintered pellets to additional sintering are produced.
