FIELD: industrial organic synthesis.
SUBSTANCE: methanol-containing stream is brought into contact with dehydration catalyst in one or several reaction zones. Components of reaction mixture are separated via distillation and/or rectification, while unreacted methanol is recycled into reaction zone(s). Dehydration of methanol and formation of ether proceed in liquid and/or vapor-liquid state in presence of acid cationite at temperature between 100 and 160°C, whereas concentration of water in recycled methanol stream is maintained below 12%, preferably below 5%.
EFFECT: simplified technology.
