FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed power switch is provided with at least one SF6 gas filled discharge chamber of axial symmetry disposed on longitudinal axis. Chamber has power-circuit current loop with central contact pin as well as separate rated-current loop provided with contacts for carrying rated current. Lever-type operating mechanism functions to displace contact pin and rated- current carrying contacts and is adjusted so that during initial moment of disconnection process contact pin still remains at first dead point until rated-current passing carrying opens. Contact pin can be then moved in direction of disconnection at much higher speed than rated-current carrying contacts. In the process, rated-current carrying contacts move toward second dead point position by the end of their travel in direction of disconnection. Contact pin will not reach its open position until rated-current carrying contacts stop their movement in direction of disconnection.
EFFECT: reduced power requirement for placing switch in operation.
