FIELD: agriculture, in particular, seed science, for determining of live seeds in seed material for forecasting germination capacity thereof.
SUBSTANCE: method involves soaking seeds in warm water having temperature t=20°C; holding in hot (65-70°) aqueous solution 0.1 M of gibberelic acid; during soaking of seeds in said solution, directing rectified alternating current of 0.3 mkA intensity through said solution; determining seed activity by results of germination for 1 day in growing apparatus at temperature t=30-35ºC on wetted filtering multilayer paper; defining three activity levels: high (96% of germinated seeds); average (80-95%) and low (79% and lower than that value).
EFFECT: reduced time for evaluating seed activity.
