SPRAYED LIQUID JET FORMING METHOD AND SPRINKLER Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

Abstract RU 2258551 C1

FIELD: fire-fighting, particularly technical means for liquid spraying, namely sprinklers.

SUBSTANCE: method involves supplying pressurized liquid in axial sprinkler channel on reaching predetermined ambient temperature and opening thermal lock of the sprinkler. During the method realization liquid flow is divided into two flows by partition installed in axial sprinkler channel and liquid flows are formed in flow channels, wherein the flows are symmetrical with respect to axis of partition symmetry. The formed flows are sprayed by cooperating thereof with splitter secured to sprinkler body by means of mounting unit and thermal lock. Mounting unit comprises bails. The bails of mounting unit and thermal lock are installed in plane of axial channel partition symmetry so that the liquid flows in flow channels flow around the bails. Sprinkler comprises body with cylindrical axial channel for liquid delivering. Installed in the axial channel is partition, which divides the channel into two flow channels symmetrical with respect to axis of partition symmetry. Thermal lock with valve and liquid flow splitter are installed in mounting unit adapted to secure thermal lock and splitter and including bails. Bails are installed in plane of axial channel partition symmetry. Cross-section of each flow channel outlet defines a circle segment. Partition may be widened in flow direction with 3-25% gradient. Partition may be installed in centering bush secured in cylindrical axial channel. Bail width in area of its connection to sprinkler body does not exceed partition width. Flow splitter may have solid central part located within the geometrical boundaries of axial channel projection.

EFFECT: reduced droplet size, increased kinetic droplet energy, uniform spatial droplet distribution.
