FIELD: ferrous metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes refining molten pig iron at selective removal of titanium, silicon, vanadium, chromium, manganese, carbon and phosphorus. Used as oxygen source is solid refining material of 50-500 mm fraction containing mixture of iron oxides with metal weighting compound in form of iron carbon alloy at density of 0.6-1.0 of density of melt being refined at ratio of iron oxide mass to weighting compound mass within (10:90)-(30:70) and consumption of materials from 1 to 35% of mass of melt. Proposed method makes it possible to reduce consumption of oxygen or fully exclude use of oxygen and to ensure additional delivery of original iron into melt due to reduction of its oxides.
EFFECT: enhanced efficiency; increased degree of extraction of useful components.
