METHOD OF STARTING AND OPERATION OF DIESEL INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

FIELD: mechanical engineering; diesel engines.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to diesel engines operating at higher compression ratio up to 80. Proposed method of starting and operation of diesel engine comes to building vacuum in intake manifold and cylinder at starting and limiting filling of engine cylinder with air at operation from idling to maximum speed. Vacuum in intake manifold at starting is built by signal of electronic control unit owing to removal of air from intake manifold at closed fuel injection device, starting and idling air rate controller and throttle valve closed, and when preset vacuum, depending on compression ratio of said engine, its temperature and ambient temperature and pressure is obtained, electronic control unit by signal from vacuum sensor forms signal to starter for cranking the crankshaft and forms signals to open fuel injection device, starting and idling air rate controller, thus providing delivery of air and fuel into cylinder. In period from beginning of crankshaft turning to engine starting, electronic control unit forms signals to starting and idling air rate controller, thus limiting air flow rate and providing preset level of vacuum in intake manifold. After starting of engine, removal of air from intake manifold is stopped, and starting and idling air rate controller is shifted in idling position. When operating from idling to maximum speed, depending on value of engine compression ratio, its temperature, ambient temperature and pressure, and crankshaft speed, electronic control unit forms signal to throttle valve drive changing angle of opening of throttle valve and limiting filling of cylinder with air.

EFFECT: improved reliability of starting and operation of engine at idling to maximum speed, increased service life and reduced fuel consumption of engine.
