FIELD: electrical engineering; excavator electric drives.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method for "gentle" operation of mains-powered synchronous motors involves forcing of synchronous motor field mounted on quarry excavators; leading field forcing is used for synchronous motors when excavator operates under severe conditions upon permission of excavator lifting drive management. As a result, motor field winding is not permanently heated and load is released from weak point of motor (ring assembly and brushes). Synchronous motor does not actually fall out of step, that is there are no impacts in stator windings, nor does damping winding go to pieces. During excavator operation bucket filling capacity is raised. According to statistics, rail transport loading time reduces by 10%.
EFFECT: enhanced service life, reliability, and bucket filling capacity.
