METHOD FOR ELIMINATING LOWER EYELID ECTROPION Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: method involves producing two musculocutaneous incisions at the level of eyelid commissures. Canal is formed via the obtained access way by separating musculocutaneous layer from anterior surface of cartilaginous eyelid plate and from periosteum around the musculocutaneous incisions. Preserved sclera transplant is introduced and laid into the canal as a 5.0-6.0 cm long and 0.3-0.8 cm wide arc. The transplant ends are fixed to the internal and external orbit edge periosteum 0.2-0.3 cm above the eyelid commissures level. Then, nonabsorbable sutures are placed over the musculocutaneous incisions and absorbable sutures are placed over the skin incisions. 0.4-0.6 cm long musculocutaneous incisions are done in particular 0.2-0.3 cm far from lateral and nasal eyelid commissures. The transplant and canal are laid through lateral incision in particular by means of conductor having needle ear on its end. The transplant is laid in particular into the produced canal in a way that its ends project from both incisions at equal length. Single interrupted Vicryl 6,0 suture is laid over each musculocutaneous incision. Prolene 6,0 is used for laying single interrupted suture on each skin suture.

EFFECT: reduced risk of traumatic complications; improved cosmetic results.
