METHOD OF MINIMALLY INVASIVE SURGICAL ELIMINATION OF PARALYTIC LAGOPHTHALMOS BY "REINFORCEMENT" OF THE LOWER EYELID Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC A61F9/07

Abstract RU 2711142 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ophthalmology and plastic surgery. For elimination of paralytic lagophthalmos of lower eyelid starting from middle one-third of lower eyelid by microsurgical blade making six microsections of eyelid skin, and one skin incision in area of medial adhesion of eyelids, two incisions – in the middle between the upper and lower eyelid edges, four incisions – parallel to the border of the upper and lower eyelid edges, one incision – within the medial adhesion of the eyelids, 1.5–2.0 mm long each. First, two micro cuts are made in the middle between the upper and lower cartilage edges of the lower eyelid, the first microincision is made on the border of the outer and middle one-third of the eyelid, the second microincision is made on the border of the inner and middle one-third of the eyelid. Further, microincisions are made at the border of the upper and lower cartilage of the eyelid in pairs in opposition to each other, wherein the third incision is made in the middle third of the eyelid at the upper edge of the cartilage, the fourth incision opposite it at the lower edge of the cartilage of the eyelid, the fifth one – in the inner one-third of the century near the upper boundary of the cartilage, the sixth incision – opposite the fifth one at the lower edge of the cartilage of the eyelid, and the last seventh microsurgical incision is performed in the area of medial adhesion of lids. Then through the obtained microsurgical incisions, prolene suture 5.0 is performed on two needles through all layers of the eyelid, grasping the cartilage with crossing the suture in the wound. Further, the suture ends are tightened to the correct position of the lower eyelid and tied with a submerged unit; the sutures are not applied on the microsurgical incisions of the lower eyelid.

EFFECT: method is minimally invasive, provides a fast rehabilitation period with good cosmetic effect, reliable protection against damaging factors and improves drainage of lachrymal fluid by increasing turgor of lower eyelid tissues and good adhesion of eyelids to the eyeball.
