FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: face seal comprises rotating friction ring that is composed of two rotating axially aligned outer and inner rings which are in a contact with the nonrotating solid friction ring. The outer and inner rings are set in the bushing that has two ring grooves separated by a projection. Between the outer and inner rings and the projection a catching ring groove is defined. The inner ring is sealed and fixed, and the outer ring is sealed in the radial direction and movable in the axial direction.
EFFECT: simplified structure, increased operation life, and enhanced reliability.
