FIELD: measurement technology.
SUBSTANCE: granules of loose material are subject to influence of directed magnetic radiation. Two-dimensional distribution of intensity of radiation reflected from granules is measured. When finding minimal value in intensity distribution, the borders of irradiated granules are revealed subsequently and two-dimensional image of granules is received. Using that image, the maximal geometrical size of any granule is determined, moreover, the granules themselves can have random size. Clearance geometrical sizes of irradiated granules can be used as statistic distribution of clearance geometrical sizes of granules of loose material. Granulometric system for realization of the method has at least one electromagnet radiation source for irradiating granules, at least one unit for measuring radiation radiated from granules, for example, video camera, and at least one evaluation unit. Evaluation unit is made for sequent revealing borders of granules subject to irradiation, for building their two-dimensional image and for determining clearance geometrical sizes of any granule followed by statistic processing of data.
EFFECT: improved precision of measurement.
