FIELD: image processing.
SUBSTANCE: method for precision identification of boundary and angular points on a plane image and in a cloud of points comprises the following steps: flat image is obtained; for each pixel of image circular neighbourhood is set with preset radius and centre in given pixel; calculating pixel masks of a different size for a given neighbourhood, statistical moments in a given neighbourhood based on application of calculated masks on different parts of the image to obtain a map of activations, canonical moments for a given neighbourhood based on the calculated statistical moments, a set of parameters for the linear boundary model and for the angular boundary model based on the calculated canonical moments, wherein the set of parameters contains the expected coordinates of the linear or angular boundary within this pixel, as well as the boundary compliance measures and threshold values; and based on the boundary conformity measure values and the threshold values, it is determined whether this pixel contains a linear or angular boundary, and if present, its coordinates are output.
EFFECT: high processing speed and accuracy, especially for noisy images.
