Abstract RU 2261931 C1

FIELD: metallurgy; production of metallic chromium and its carbides.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes mixing the aqueous solution of chromic anhydride with aqueous solution of organic compound soluble in chromic acid which is used as reductant. Product of mixing aqueous solutions chromic anhydride and organic compound is subjected to heat treatment for dehydration of chromium oxides and destruction of organic compound. Product of mixing process is treated in vacuum at temperature of 1200-1500°C. Used as organic compound is saccharose, starch or polyvinyl alcohol.

EFFECT: improved quality of chromium and its carbides due to reduced amount of admixtures; possibility of obtaining purity of metal no less than 99.5.
