FIELD: sealing technology; sealing detachable flanged joints; nuclear, paper-making, oil-and-gas, food-processing and chemical industries.
SUBSTANCE: proposed sealing tape is made from narrow thermally-expandable graphite foil strip and porous polytetrafluorine ethylene strip spirally wound around foil strip overlapping each previous turn of spiral. Sealing tape has transversal alternating corrugations which decrease length of flat initial tape by at least 10%. Thermally-expandable graphite foil has density of 0.8-1.2 g/cm3 and its thickness ranges from 0.2 to 1 mm. For sealing-up high-pressure vessels, narrow foil thermally-expandable graphite strip is made in form of sandwich formed by two foil strips and reinforcing strip made from metal foil and laid in between them; their width is similar.
EFFECT: enhanced reliability of seal.
