FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: present invention pertains to sealing techniques. The sealing band with alternating transverse profile depressions has a reinforcing element made from metal foil, put between layers of expanded graphite foil, attached to them using a binder. There are two main layers of expanded graphite and one extra. The reinforcing element used is a volume-deformed metal band with regular alternating projections and depressions, formed by passing metallic rolls with the corresponding knurling. The extra layer is put on the inner side of the layer the expanded graphite foil with alignment on one edge and has smaller width and thickness than the main layer of the expanded graphite foil.
EFFECT: increased reliability of sealing.
