FIELD: manufacture of flat sealing layers from expanded graphite.
SUBSTANCE: method involves forming tape of laminated structure consisting of two layers of expanded graphite with layer of reinforcing member interposed therebetween; connecting layers of laminated structure by cladding thereof using porous polytetrafluoroethylene; forming transverse alternating profiled slots on clad tape of laminated structure; coiling three-dimensional spiral having predetermined number of coils and pressing spiral coils contacting with one another using porous polytetrafluoroethylene so that said coils are engaged with one another. Flat sealing layer is made from pressed coils of three-dimensional spiral of tape and having laminated structure consisting of expanded graphite foil layers and reinforcing member interposed between layers of expanded graphite foil. Layers of laminated structure are clad using porous polytetrafluoroethylene. Joining of contacting spiral coils with one another is enabled through engagement thereof with one another by means of porous polytetrafluoroethylene.
EFFECT: enhanced reliability in operation and simplified process for manufacture of sealing layer.
