FIELD: nondirectional transmitting antennas.
SUBSTANCE: proposed subsurface antenna has two tiers of dipoles spaced apart through height and bin enclosed by metal screen, all driven in semiconducting ground. Conductors of dipole arms of first and second tiers are installed in boreholes drilled, respectively, through side walls of bin in horizontal plane and through bin dome in two planes inclined through angles +α and -α relative to horizontal plane. Projections of second-tier dipole arms onto horizontal plane are orthogonal to those of first-tier dipole arms. Optimal sizes of antenna structural components depending on effective wavelength and parameters of semiconducting ground are found.
EFFECT: improved uniformity of azimuthal directivity pattern at small elevation angles and enhanced gain of antenna.
