TRANSFORMABLE CARCASS FOR SOFA-BED Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

FIELD: furniture industry, in particular, manufacture of sofas or armchairs transformable to beds.

SUBSTANCE: transformable carcass has seat made from rigid seat carcass, and back carcass which makes carcass for cushion and part of sleeping place, when carcass is moved to bed position. Identical transformation mechanisms are fixed on lateral ends of seat carcass, said mechanisms being composed of levers and springs. Transformation mechanisms are connected with one another through longitudinal bar for providing synchronous transformation of left-handed and right-handed transformation mechanisms and keeping said mechanisms from misalignment. Also, longitudinal bar serves as additional stop for back carcass. Leverage system has overturning lever, drop lever and spring. Longitudinal bar is rigidly secured at one end of drop lever and pusher formed as clip with aperture is pivotally connected to other end of drop lever.

EFFECT: simplified construction and convenient operation of transformable carcass.
