FIELD: mechanical engineering; turbocompressors.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to surge control and protection of compressors. According to proposed method of forming surge signal including measuring of parameters, calculating time derivatives of said parameters and comparing current values of derivative with threshold values in value and sign, generation of discrete signals on exceeding of threshold value by each derivative, generated discrete signals are delayed for preset time and surge signal is formed if two or delayed discrete signals on exceeding of threshold values of parameters are present. For better adaptation to peculiarities of particular compressor, its drive and operating conditions, either all or several of following derivatives are compared with threshold values: positive derivatives of suction pressure, pressure in specific point of passage part, rotor speed and negative derivatives of delivery pressure, difference in delivery and suction pressure, pressure differential on local restrictor in inlet or outlet branch pipe, power consumed by compressor.

EFFECT: increased efficiency and quick response of surge protection based on use of discrete surge signal.
