FIELD: agriculture, in particular, potato growing.
SUBSTANCE: method involves keeping potato tubers at reduced temperature of 2-4 C; during storage, at the end of winter, in third decade of February, treating potato tubers with beet seed extract by means of portable sprayer, followed by exposing to long-wave infrared radiation for two hours with the use of standard infrared lamps. Beet seed extract is prepared by homogenizing 100 g of seeds in 5 l of warm distilled water at temperature of 30-35 C and digesting for one day at the rate of 10 l per 1 t of potato tubers. Keeping properties and rest depth are evaluated from growing time and length of sprouts of early-ripening sorts of potato during spring.
EFFECT: improved retention of tubers of commercial and seed potato during winder storage period.
