FIELD: powder metallurgy, namely manufacture of articles such as consumable electrodes of metallic powders used in electric metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of pouring charge by dozes into cone die; pressing it and pushing article through die by means of pad with ram during one pass; pushing through die gage made of alloy respective to that of pressed article or of pure titanium. Gage is made of sheet material with rectangular cross section whose height is 15 - 30 mm and thickness is 10 - 40 mm. Gage has hollow closed contour whose outer geometry profile is similar to outer profile of outlet cross section of die. Dimensions of outer geometry profile of gage exceed those of die cross section by 1.02 -1.1 times. After 3 - 10 dozes of charge are pressed, gages with pressed material are successively arranged in die in such a way that their lateral outer surfaces are parallel to pressing axis and then they are pressed-in to body of electrode.
EFFECT: prevention of metal sticking to die surface, improved quality of pressed electrode.
