FIELD: oil and gas industries; estimation of serviceability of catalyst in production of sulfur from hydrogen sulfide by Clause method.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes selection and analysis of starting acid gas and gas at inlets of each reactors, measuring the temperature at Clause and Sulfren reactor inlets and outlets and estimation of degree of conversion of sulfuric compounds in each reactor -αreal; then, theoretical degree of conversion of sulfuric compounds in each reactor is determined depending on concentration of sulfuric compounds and at temperature at inlet of each reactor - αtheor., degree of approximation of αreal to αtheor. of each Clause reactors and Sulfren reactors at relationship αreal/αtheor. =Y; theoretical degree of conversion of starting hydrogen sulfide is determined depending on concentration of sulfuric compounds at first Clause reactor inlet and temperature at inlet of each Clause reactors and Sulfren reactors for arbitrary magnitudes Y in Clause reactors; then graph of magnitudes Y in first and second Clause reactors is plotted for condition of equality of degree of conversion of starting hydrogen sulfide of 99.4%; serviceability of catalyst is judged by position of point of intersection of magnitudes Y for Clause reactors working at one plant; if point lies on curve 99-4% and below, work of catalyst is continued in both Clause reactors and in case it lies above 99.4%, catalyst is changed in both Clause reactors; catalyst in Sulfren reactors is changed at Y below 0.90.
EFFECT: possibility of estimation of serviceability of catalyst.
